Description- Ability to identify problems and develop, recommend and/or implement innovative solutions. - Skill in dealing cooperatively and effectively with representatives inside and outside the organization; including both military and civilian organizations, agencies, and companies to obtain needed information, complete required tasks / processing, and to explain/brief decisions or recommendations to others. - Skill in compiling information and preparing reports. - Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines; includes changes in mission requirements, short suspense’s, and customer needs. 1. Receives, reads, classifies and routes correspondence, reports and other miscellaneous materials to distribution locations on the installation. Routes non-controlled materials to units by address, office symbol, organization numeric code, or by subject matter content. Assures accuracy of incoming registered, insured and certified mail for the installation. Delivers incoming mail to various military unit and government agencies throughout the post. Picks up outgoing mail and pouches. Sorts by destination, special handling, etc. 2. Gives advice/guidance to directory clerks in checking locator cards for correct or forwarding addresses and enters correct or forwarding address on mail so delivery can be made. Examines mail directed by directory clerks and postal unit mail clerks to ensure complete information is given on all endorsements; makes primary separation. Checks "No Record" mail to ensure correct endorsements. Maintains flow of mail between mail directory and U.S. Post Office. Maintains the installation mail distribution scheme by indicating distribution to be made on mail for units, agencies and activities and by posting appropriate changes upon arrival, departure or deactivation of indicated units. Coordinates with USPS employees concerning the delivery and routing of mail for units, agencies and activities upon arrival, departure or deactivation. Maintains master postal personnel designation file for unit postal officer and mail clerk as well as a file on inactivated postal personnel during calendar year. 3. Responsible for operating the Mail Management System and Mailing System. Ensure proper account is charged and that the correct postage is applied for the class and weight of mail using the most economical method. Send certified, registered and express mail to installation customers. Log in outgoing accountable mail for dispatch and ensure accuracy in posting meter reading and ensure all equipment is closed down at the end of the day. 4. Performs locator services. At locator window and telephonically, furnishes information such as addresses or locations of military personnel from locator cards or assists inquirer when no clear address is available. Contacts post office personnel in searching for addresses and locations of personnel assigned but not living on post. Has access to and refers occasionally to the classified confidential worldwide locator. Will work in support of the Team LMR AG Support Services contract that provides AG support and services to the Fort Lee Community. Performs all tasks in accordance with the contract performance work statement standards. Complies with documented policies and procedures to perform work as applicable. Identifies reports and/or resolves process and product non-conformities according to established procedures. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Employee may be required to work overtime. PHYSICAL DEMANDS – Must be able comfortably lift up to 70 pounds. There will be walking, standing, bending and carrying of items up to 70 pounds.
